More than twenty years ago, Mimi (Abeba) Beyene arrived in the United States with a dream of building something meaningful through hard work, perseverance, and entrepreneurship.
She began her career in Washington, DC’s nightlife industry as a bartender, working at some of the city’s most recognized venues, including DC Live, H2O, and Platinum Nightclub. Those early years taught her invaluable lessons about customer service, leadership, operations, and what it takes to build exceptional businesses.
Inspired by those experiences, Mimi took her first leap into entrepreneurship.
In 2011, she opened Mood Lounge, her first nightclub. After its success, she expanded with Vita Lounge in 2013 and Power Nightclub in 2017. Over the years, her businesses became well-known destinations in Washington, DC, creating jobs, supporting the local economy, and giving her more than two decades of hands-on experience in business ownership, operations, leadership, and hospitality.
Today, Mimi has entered a new chapter.
As the founder of Power House Cultivation, she now owns and operates a state-of-the-art cannabis cultivation facility, manufacturing center, and dispensary. While the industry has changed, her purpose has remained the same: to build businesses that create opportunity, serve the community with integrity, and leave a lasting impact.
